Close to our Hearts

I just completed this watercolor of "Nelson" and delivered it to the owners on Saturday.  They were so pleased with the painting and miss the dog they had for what seemed a short time.  I saw Nelson for the photographs, and within a month he had to be put to sleep due to cancer.  They knew he wasn't well, but none of us knew he must have been in pain that day.  He seemed full of energy, but at times would wander off by himself.  I have since become friends with the owners, as I often do when I paint a subject so close to their hearts.                        www.gaildolphinart.com
